Today with the fashion designers coming up with a variety of options, the designs have become more and more contemporary with an ethnic touch. The traditional kanjeevaram sarees or the paithani sarees are still popular but the brides are willing to try out more and more contemporary and designer bridal wear for their D-day. The traditional dresses have been upgraded with more contemporary motifs, artwork, embroidery, studded gems and jewels, colors and fabrics. The traditional Indian bridal wear has now evolved to include the more modern fashion trends across the globe.

The saree still retain the elegance of the traditional look but with a streak of modern fashion trends with interesting variations added to it. The blouse designs have evolved over the years from puffed sleeves to noodle straps, fashionable necklines, and heavy embroidery. The draping patterns for the sari have also changed. Similarly, the Lehengas and Ghagra Choli have evolved in this era of fashion and style. The flared long ghagra, is now being experimented with pleated, embroidered and even fish cut lehengas . The Dupatta is now available in more fabrics and more contemporary dyes, embroideries, beadwork. The choli has gone super cool with sleeve-less, strapless, or noodle strap varieties.

The Indian bride is now experimenting with more contemporary colors instead of the traditional red color. Blushing pinks, cool pastel shades, earth colors, marine colors, rust color, metallic shades with golden or silver tints are now becoming a part of the bridal trousseau. Even the traditional silk has evolved in various varieties like metallic silk and crepe silk. A wide variety of contemporary fabrics from crepe, chiffon, georgette, or even the exquisite jute varieties is available. The contemporary embroidery patterns offer to add a modern touch to the Indian bridal wear. Embroidery patterns range from asymmetrical patterns, geometrical shapes, to abstracts with expensive crystals, precious and semi precious stones and beads work done over it. The basic essence of Indian wear for brides remain the same that is to retain the traditional aspect but there is a streak of modern flamboyance as well.
